When we’re not feeling right physically, something is off, or we feel like we’re coming down with something, we go see a doctor. So why don’t we do the same when something isn’t right mentally? 

It does feel like it’s slowly getting better of not having as much of a stigma around mental health and becoming more normalized. More celebrities are talking about it. The more we talk about it, the more people realize that it’s common. Everyone has some degree of mental health issues, and like physical issues, they won’t heal properly unless we take care of them. 

Taking care of our own mental health is hard enough without being forced to deal with the added stress being directly caused by an out of our control external force like a global pandemic. Worry of us or our loved ones getting covid, many of our jobs and businesses have been affected, all of a sudden not being able to pay our bills, or rent, or mortgage. 

This Saturday is World Mental Health Day. Let’s all take some time this week to check-in with ourselves and do a self-assessment. Spend time some quality solo time to do some thinking, and there are lots of resources online too.
